Key Takeaways
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to
Run a collaborative storytelling session where business experts narrate how they use and depend on data, while the group visualizes it live
1
Spot natural domain boundaries inside a shared data landscape — the data equivalent of bounded contexts
2
Translate those boundaries into a target picture of domain-oriented data products, each with a clear owner
3
Compare that target picture against the current warehouse or pipeline setup to find exactly where the monolith slows teams down or erodes trust
4
Sequence a phased plan for carving the first data product out of the monolith, instead of a big-bang rebuild
5
Program
A one-day, in-company workshop (half-day intro to two-day deep dive on request), delivered online or in person. Runs on a neutral, generic example domain by default so participants learn the method without getting lost in their own data complexity; can be tailored to your actual landscape for a more customized delivery. Ideal group size is 10–12 participants, minimum 6 for meaningful discussion, larger groups split into sub-groups.
Business experts tell the story of how they use, need, and depend on data; the group records it visually in front of them as it's told.
The group identifies natural domain boundaries and drafts the ideal set of domain-oriented data products.
The target model is compared against the current warehouse or pipeline setup, surfacing exactly where the monolith is blocking speed or trust.
The group sequences a phased plan to carve out the first one or two data products, with ownership assigned.
